I Can Do It” is an interactive workshop, presented by Sue Craig, on classroom management targeting teachers who have taught less than 5 years. The curriculum covers strategies for building community in the classroom, establishing and reinforcing rules and routines, communicating with students, peers and parents, and creating a smooth flowing classroom. You will have opportunities to network and share best practices.

Violence, True Crime, Neglect, Confession, and Abuse of Power will all be covered in the upcoming presentation by Mark Toledo on “How Not To Get Fired.” Mr. Toledo, the General Counsel for OEA , will share tips and actual case histories of teachers who have discovered they should never have fallen for the “It will never happen to me!” mind set. Mr. Toledo will also share tips and legal advice for avoiding allegations of misconduct and what to do if you are ever accused.

OEA Promising Practices Grant Program


Have a plan that could enhance your classroom skills or boost student achievement, but need some funding to see if it works? Have an idea for a site-based professional developement activity that could build partnerships, but need some financing to get it going? OEA's Center for Teaching & Learning works with Uniserv Councils around the state to award grants to OEA members for various amounts on an annual basis to test just these kinds of concepts.

If you are an active OEA member, you are eligible to apply for a Promising Practices Grant.
